We: How the cultural situatedness of researchers impacts inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration

Inter- and transdisciplinary research collaboration is grounded in differences of perspectives and aims for shared problem solving. Such solutions are constituted by and made up of integrative practices between disciplines, sectors, and diverse way of knowing, acting, and being. The situatedness of researchers in their working environment and academic culture, along with the historical, political, economic and socio-cultural context of one’s provenance and ethnical descent, impacts such research collaboration in different ways. This panel explores what it takes to bring diversity of researchers and research collaborators into fruition. Panelists will, discusses the socio-cultural challenges of creating equitable conditions and appreciation of researchers from different world regions and knowledge cultures, and elaborate on what it means to decolonize research collaboration.
